One of the highlights of this weekend’s Beale Street Music Festival will be a performance from the always engaging Elvis Costello.
Costello spoke to The Commercial Appeal in advance of the show (keep an eye out for that story on Friday). He did let drop that he’ll be playing with a special one-off festival band that will include local resident and Memphis legend Jim Dickinson on piano.
In addition to pulling material from his back pages, Costello is set to perform some new songs from his forthcoming album “Secret, Profane and Sugarcane” (due in June from Hear Music. As a teaser of what fans might expect, here’s a version of one of the album’s highlights as it was performed on Costello’s Sundance channel talk show “Spectacle.”
