Harding Academy senior catcher Fletcher Parker drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday morning against Nashville Davidson Academy to give the Lions a 4-3 state-title victory in the Division 2-A state final in Nashville.
Parker's RBI walk scored Harding sophomore Eason Gilbert, who had reached on a fielder's choice, advanced to second on a wild pitch and reached third on a ground out by Harding outfielder Hayden Parrish.
After intentionally walking two batters to load the bases, Davidson Academy pitcher Spencer Harp went ahead, 0-2, but Parker worked the count full before earning the game-winning RBI.
The win earned the Lions' their first baseball state title and their third D2-A team title this season. Harding's boys basketball and volleyball teams also won D2-A state titles this year.
Sophomore pitcher Tyler Stanford (6-2) earned the win for Harding, allowing just two hits while striking out five. The Lions (20-13) were a third-place finisher in the D2-A West Region tournament.

The Christian Brothers baseball team needs to heat up its bats in a hurry or its going to go home.
The Purple Wave ran into Chattanooga Baylor pitcher Chase Riemer who was throwing darts for much of Baylor's 6-3 victory over CBHS on Wednesday.
Riemer no-hit the Wave for 4 2/3-innings and wound up striking out seven batters.
CBHS now faces an elimination game in a little while against Brentwood Academy. If they win that one they'll have to beat Baylor twice Thursday to defend their championship.
No one said it would be easy for CBHS but it suddenly got very difficult.
